Best suited for type designers looking to complete or expand their typeface projects with a structured and professional approach.
As a coach, I treat projects confidentially. I do not ask for part ownership of the project or for a mention, although mentions are lovely when they happen.

Meet Your Coach
Hi there, my name is Troy Leinster, and I’ll be your coach for the Typemasters Advanced small group coaching. I’m an Australian typeface designer and founder of Leinster Type, and I currently live in Jersey City, just across the river from New York City.
Over the last ten years, I’ve studied under many typeface designers around the world, collecting and refining my type design process, which I now share with others like yourself. In 2021, I founded Typemasters.xyz, and have now coached over 500 designers through the process of developing a typeface from concept to release.
From 2014-2021 I worked at the Hoefler&Co Type Foundry and taught typeface design at Cooper Union in New York. I’m a graduate of Type & Media program at KABK in The Hague and the Type@Cooper program at Cooper Union in New York.
I look forward to working with you to develop your typeface further.
Troy.
Feedback & Reviews
Sometimes it’s hard to see problems when starring at it for too long. It is really helpful to have a second set of trained eyes at high professional level like Troy to help look at the design. TienMin Liao - Typeface Designer, New York, NY
Troy has been coaching me via his Typemasters for the last few months. He has provided invaluable guidance and a keen eye to help me develop my first independent typeface. His name kept cropping up when I did my certificate program, and he has not disappointed. I have come to think of Typemasters as a finishing school for typeface designers. His offering is unique in the industry, with his templates providing serious tools to get complex typeface projects on point. Five stars. Jeremy Vinson, Designer, Surrey, UK
Troy's weekly coaching classes gave me the tools to feel more confident when it comes to building out my typefaces and held me accountable for making progress on them. Chris Caldwell - Type Designer, New York, NY
Working with Troy has been a great experience, plain and simple. I initially took the Type Design Intensive, enjoyed Troy’s easy-going manner, and decided to continue with one-on-one coaching to complete my typeface. Kevin Foley - Art Director/Graphic Designer, Takasaki, Japan
Initially, I wondered how a hands-on topic like type design would fare in an online format. However, I felt fully supported as I worked through the challenges of my type, without being pushed in any particular direction. Support for technical questions and advice on troublesome letterforms was readily available from Troy. Michelle Webster - Design / UX / Development / Typography Minneapolis, MN
